How To: Create a Trip Event on this Website
TechThere are two plugin’s which this site uses to manage events, EventCalendar which is the calendar widget you can see in the lefthand nav bar and Eventr which manages attendance lists.
If you don’t have a login please email Georgi and ask for one.
2. Create an event for attendance tracking
Using the Eventr plugin we will create an event that user’s can sign-up to using a small form on the event post (we will create the event post in the next step).
Once logged into WordPress click on Tools > Manage Events.
Click on Create New Event and take note of the event number, you will need this later.

3. Create an event post and place it in the calendar
From the menu select Posts > Add New.
After you’ve entered the title and event description, scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Event Editor box. Here is where you enter in dates and times for your event. These dates will show up as highlighted on the calendar widget on the sidebar of the website. If its an all day event be sure to check the all day box.

We aren’t finished yet.
4. Link the Eventr event to the trip post.
To do this first save your post as a draft with the Save Draft button in the top right. We need to copy some text from an existing trip post, to do this select Posts > Edit. Now click Edit under an existing post such as Beeroulderlining.
Copy the following text from the end of the post:

5. Copy the selected text to your own trip post
Posts > Edit and select your post from the list. Paste the text at the end of your post (Either Visual or HTML view)
NOTE: Change the number 2 for the Event number you made a note of in step 2. If you don’t do this your trip won’t be properly connected to the event attendee list.
6. Publish!
Your post is now ready to publish.
7. (Optional) Create a forum thread
If you want to create a forum thread then make sure to include in it the link to the post and vice versa, update your post to include a link to the forum thread.
8. View attendance list
To view a list of who’s attending your event, Tools > Manage Events select Manage Attendees next to your event name.
From here you can export this list to a CSV (Excel) file and this will include other details such as attendee’s phone numbers.
