SURMC were victorious for the second year running in the annual interclub climbing competition, becoming the first club to win the newly introduced “Manky Cam” trophy. Highlights for our club included winning both of the team challenges and having several of our climbers placing in the individual categories. The team challenges provided much entertainment and great team spirit as each club urged their representatives on for both a tent setup race and a ropes pursuit course.

The main section of the comp was run in a ‘pumpfest’ format; meaning that everyone had two hours to complete as many of the specially set problems as they could. At the end of the allotted time each climber added up the scores from their 6 highest scoring climbs for their total score. This format allowed everyone to try a range of new and novelty challenges, which were all set to a high standard. I think everyone had a great time and I’d like to thank everyone who attended from all of the clubs, I’ve never seen the Ledge that full!
