I'm not certain of the duration or intesity of the course, but would anbody be keen to do some sport climbing while we are in the blueies? Given that we are not tierd and there is still day light.

Hi guys, sounds like you're pretty much sorted for transport. I'd recommend splitting the group gear between you on Wednesday because there will be quite a lot. If someone comes with a car then you could probably give it to them but I think it might be a bit much for Daniel on the train.

As for the hut, there should be space as it's a decent size. BTW the hut I'm talking about is the hexagonal shaped hut with one side open that is downhill a bit from the camping areas, not the bus shelter style thing near the road.

Hi Andrew, I recommend coming along to club nights at the ledge on Wednesdays to meet some of the people who will be heading down. If you want to learn to lead trad then I'd suggest the best thing to do is to find someone in a similar situation to swap leads with and just start on the very low grades to get used to placing gear.

If you can't make Wednesdays then there are often some club members around on Monday and Friday afternoons.

Hey,
I live at Sydney uni main campus, so I'm happy to take the racks etc back to mine on wednesday. It looks like noone is around the city area, so I'm happy to catch a train and meet you all in katoomba on the Saturday morning.
I also have my own personal gear, and will probably camp. I have a stove/tent if anyone needs one :)

That was the email from Mic.

Sounds like we have plenty of cars to go around. I'm in Westmead so I might come with you Aaron, if that's ok? And then Daniel can come with whoever is closest.

In terms of gear, does anyone usually drive to the Ledge on Wednesday, and would be happy to keep hold of the group gear until Saturday? Otherwise we can split it up amongst whoever is there.

How do people feel about Katoomba or Blackheath as a meeting point? If we're going to be at Mount York by 9, we should probably meet at around 8:30.

Aisling you can share my tent if you want.

We should probably swap phone numbers sometime between now and Saturday.

I am glad that you guys have been able to set aside a couple of days to
broaden your climbing skills and have some fun in the Blueies.

Specifically I would love to have a look at four areas:
1. Top-rope anchor set-ups
2. Self Rescue
3. Improvised Rope Rescue
4. Abseiling (ie getting off or down to climbs)

But let me know if there are things that you would like to go over - it is
your weekend!

Preparation:
It would be nice if you can tie figure-of-eights, clove hitches, prussicks &
french prussicks. An alpine butterfly if you want to top the class.
Visit Pete or Phil at the Ledge between lectures for a quick refresher.
Fisher Library around 796 has some great books for instruction and
inspiration...

Transport:
See if you can car pool, or we could organise a shuttle from Mt Victoria Train Station.

Meeting Point & Time:
Mt York car park Turning Circle,9am Sat 11 Sep.
Finish up around five each day.

Group Gear (can someone take responsibility for grabbing this stuff):
1x trad rack, draws, 2 or 3 climbing ropes, 2 or 3 static ropes (can be
short), a few short rigging ropes, many locking 'biners

Rope protection; carpet off cuts, or purpose made

Personal Gear:
Helmet, harness, belay plate, 3 or 4 locking biners*, prussick loops*,
climbing shoes, dbl sling*

lunch, water, sunscreen, warm top, raincoat

*I will have spares of these items. And anything else if you let me know.

Accommodation:
Mt York (bring water), or Megalong Valley are both good for camping.

Weather:
Do not be put off by the weather in Sydney it is often a lot better up here
and there are many places we can go.

Contacting me:
Email or call or text anytime.

See you all next week,
Mic.
